This could account for some family fallout

Cannabis consumers show greater susceptibility to false memories

One of my impressions of the downside of recreational drug use is that it can lead to relationship breakdown - with parents and siblings - often in families that previously seemed happy.

If this research is correct, it could well give a partial expectation at least for the cannabis user.

Your family fallout idea is just wishful thinking on your part. The problem is with alcohol and family violence, not marijuana. The study is generally good but contains one serious flaw: the potheads had to stop one month before doing the testing. One month is the required washout time but is not sufficient time for the person to readjust; hence the study contains a flaw that can influence the results. They should have waited at least 3 months, preferably 6 months.
